Geophysical Logging and Video Services

Advanced Borehole Services (ABS), a part of All Benson Services, Inc., a Florida corporation, was formed in 1997 with the objective to provide Professional Geophysical Well Logging and Video Services to our Clients.

Advanced Borehole Services (ABS)
is a geophysical services and consulting firm providing state of the art geophysical service to support the construction, management and maintenance of water wells, both supply and waste injection wells. Additional service areas include  Geotechnical, Environmental and Mineral Exploration wells.

Because highly consequential decisions are often made based on the geophysical and video data, the integrity of that data must be assured in every well.  ABS takes this responsibility very seriously.

ABS is owned and operated by Registered Professional Geologists.  Because the quality and usefulness of the data is directly related to the acquisition process, field operations are only handled by  experienced professionals. With a combined experience level of +50 years, that includes most every aspect of this industry, ABS configures and provides the most appropriate investigative approach and conducts the data acquisition in a professional and efficient manner.

ABS has created, installed and utilizes a Quality Assurance/Quality Control  program for all of the data recording/ handling activities. This program is patterned after NQA-2 requirements developed for the nuclear power industry. Each log recorded includes a chronological record of the performance of the specified equipment used.

ABS recorded data is provided in Multiple Formats
, both as hard copy and as electronic and digital graphic files. This allows the end user to incorporate the data in the best way possible to benefit the total investigation. Paper logs are provided in the field immediately upon the completion of the data acquisition. Additional field log data is recorded as PDF files and provided on magnetic media, either 3.5in FD, CD, or Flash Drive.

ABS
provides flexible levels of data products. The majority of our clients receive the recorded data in formats specified by them, to be incorporated into their project evaluations and analysis. ABS can also provide specified levels of data analysis to best complement the total investigation. Complete data analysis is available under the management of Dr. Thomas Kwader, P.G. PhD, a certified log analysts. The level of analysis and report preparation is configured to best suit the needs of the end user.

ABS
provides a comprehensive suite of digital  Geophysical Log Capabilities. These include:

  •     Mechanical Calipers 3 & 4 arm
  •     Natural Gamma Ray
  •     Formation Resistivity-Multi-Depth
  •     Fluid Temperature w/Diff.
  •     Fluid Resistivity Conductivity
  •     Compensated Acoustics w VDL
  •     Dual Induction
  •     Magnetic Borehole Deviation
  •     Fluid Flow Velocity
  •     Discrete Fluid Samples

Additional information is on the SERVICES page.

Video Services

ABS Video Services
are an important compliment to the geophysical services. Video surveys are commonly run in conjunction with a complete geophysical program to provide visual records of the investigated well. This additional information has continually proven to be very valuable in providing a more representative description of the well and exposed formations. Applications for Video Services include;

View Well Construction
Formation Evaluations
Check for Well Damage
Dropped Pumps
Lost Tools

ABS Video Services
utilize dual-axis Color cameras with Big Well capabilities. Dual-axis refers to the incorporation of two video systems in the cameras that, under control of the operator, provide either a view down the well axis or rotating at 90 degrees to the well axis to record views of the well casing or formations. The single most limiting aspect of well video systems is the amount of  light available to illuminate large diameter wells and large cavities or other formation features. Cameras used by ABS are recognized in the industry to be some of the most capable big wells camera available.

ABS also offers a small diameter camera, with the same dual axis capability as the bigger cameras. The small version can fit into wells as small as 2.5 inches in diameter.

Geophysical logging and Video Services are provided from the same vehicle, minimizing additional mobilizations and offering a greater degree of flexibility in the field to changing conditions.

Depth control on video systems is based on electronic counters of the moving cable. The depth information is superimposed on the video image.

Video images are recorded on multiple formats. Typically, the client  is provided  two VHS master tape copies and a DVD. Digitial video files are also available on magnetic media such as CD Rom and Flash Drives.

ABS primarily operates throughout the State of Florida and South Georgia, however additional mobilization destinations are available.
